Paddy Power Suspends Betting On Elections
May 13th, 2008Paddy Power, the main Irish bookmaker, has suspended betting on the day of general elections. With the ever increasing speculation that Taoiseach Bertie Ahern will make an announcement to parliament Dail, the Paddy Power has withdrawn the odds yesterday on the elections of May 17 after having obtained in a few hours well ⏠15,000.
“By noon we were filled with bets for the elections on May 17,” said spokesman Ken Robertson paddy power. Only during the day today we received ⏠15000 that tells us that someone knows something. This could mean the imminent dissolution of the Dail and the beginning of a re-election campaign. ”
Taoseach is pointing towards a “record” third win in power in an election more enthusiastically expectations and boldly fought in the history of the Irish state. The expenditure of 20 million euros by both political parties renderĂĄ the campaign also one of the most expensive in the country.
Mr Aher became grandfather last week when her daughter biggest, georgina, gave birth to twins, Rocco and Jay. Aher has spent almost all afternoon office in north Dublin and later was laid for photography with Georgina outside the National Maternity Hospital in Holles Street.
